ANDROCTONUS CRASSICAUDA TOKSİN SCX8 İLE ASETİLKOLİN NİKOTİNİK RESEPTÖRETKİLEŞMESİNDE GXXXG MOTİFİNİN ROLÜThe role of GXXXG motif on the interaction of SCX8 toxin of Androctonus crassicauda and acetylcholine nicotinicreceptor.
Anahtar Kelimeler: GXXXG motif; Toksin; Nikotinik reseptör; BiyoinformatikABSTRACTObjectives: Androctonus crassicauda is one of the deadly scorpions of the world and one of theimportant cause of envenomation lacking sufficient pharmacological investigations. Objective ofthis study is to investigate the role of GXXXG (GG4) motif on the interaction of one of the toxins ofthis scorpion named SCX8 and nicotinic receptors.Materials and Methods: Data on toxins were downloaded from the uniprot.org database, extracted and processed using GNU/Bash commands of Linux operating system. Nicotinicreceptor subunits and SCX8 toxin sequences were aligned using Clustal omega software. Theamino acid distribution of the SCX8 toxin was depicted using the R programming language. Results: Presence of GG4 motif similarity was only found on ACM3 subunit of sodium channelsand the toxin SCX8.Conclusion: ACM3 subunit of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor may be a site of action of the toxinSCX8 of Androctonus crassicauda, which is an important envenomation factor, and this specificinteraction indicating the role of SCX8 on the inflammatory reactions due to envenomations ofthis scorpion venom and suggesting this toxin may have a role in the new drug developmentstudies. Keywords: GXXXG motif; Toxin; Nicotinic receptor; Bioinformatics
